New purse, and raid my closet!

The summer antique show is coming up in less than two weeks, and I need some spending money! So it's time to clean out my closet of things I no longer wear, or no longer fit into, and put them up for sale in my shop on Etsy. So not exactly going back into selling full time, but I'll be adding things here and there if I find the odd thing at estate sales and such :)

So thats what I did today, and before having some friends over for a little get together to watch Wipeout, Sam and I walked to a local beer shop, By the Bottle, to get some fancy beers. I just got cream soda, because I think beer tastes like fermented death, but, I got to pick out cute bottles for our friends.

On our way home we found a cute house for sale and explored around it, peeking in windows and making friends with kitties. The house was pretty cute, but they had completely remodeled the kitchen which just infuriates me like nothing else. If I'm going to have a house with new kitchen fixtures they are going to be from Big Chill. I guess I'd better start saving up now :)
But it does bother me that realtors tell people to replace their original kitchen features (or other things), in order to sell the house for more money. I'm telling you right now realtors, I want a house with original features! I will decide what to keep and what to update, not you.

Anyway, getting off my soapbox for vintage houses, this one had a cool shredded cellar door in the back, which I had to take pictures by. Only problem was that it was kind of creepy, and I was afraid zombies were going to come up and grab my feet. Hence the questionable expression in the first picture :)

Last but not least, meet me new satchel, Darcy! Named after you know who. I've been watching lots of Jane Austen lately :)

This was I think the most fun photoshoot I've done with Fab Gabs (well, I've only done three, but this one was the tops). The set Julie put together was amazing, and she even picked up some props like flowers, Mr. Panda, and a box of chocolates, which between the three of us, didn't last very long. Oh and "The Peddler" book, which as you can see in the first photo, it too inappropriate for Mr. Panda.
I got to model some of the prettiest bias cut nightgowns, petticoats, slips, and even a leopard jumpsuit WITH A HOOD! You can see all of Fab Gabs sneak peeks here. Enjoy!

Another fab photoshoot with Fab Gabs! We had a little too much fun with a beautiful black Lilli Ann suit and hat boxes, too many pictures to post here! I can't believe I got to sit there in a Lilli Ann surrounded by vintage hat boxes, while pictures were snapped, thats my kind of day!

There's lots more I modeled, but here's just a teeny sneak peek, there were 40s suits, 50s day dresses, and lots of hats! And someone please buy that leopard jumpsuit and just BE super fabulous, it was my favorite item that day. (The suit was close, but not my size).

Oh I nearly forgot the winner of the Bombshell book! It's Shrinky Inky! Just email me at solanahraquel@gmail.com with your address :)

Thank you everyone who entered, I really loved reading those things about you. It was great to see all the different reasons you feel like a bombshell, and if anyone wants the book you can purchase it here for as low as $5.21! Enjoy!

I think we've all drooled over Fab Gabs at one point or another, Julie always seems to present the most covet worthy items on Etsy. And then one day she asked if I would like to come over, put on fabulous dresses, sit on fabulous chairs, and take fabulous pictures.

Um, yes please.

Yesterday I met up with Julie and her photographer Lulu for all those things, and we had a ball. And with each new thing Julie pulled off the rack I went "Oooooooo!". Honestly it was hard to not just take everything home, but at least you can! Above I've posted some of my favorites, but there are so many more. My very favorite (which was hard to pick) would have to be the turquoise 40s frock in the second photo, if you look close the print on it is pretty ladies in dramatic hats! Eeeeee!

These are all sneak peeks, nothing listed yet, and you can always follow Fab Gabs on Facebook for sneak peeks all the time!

As you can see I have a wonderful new blog header, completely original and personalized. Isn't it perfect?
Well the artist who created it is just as sweet as her work. Sabrina of SLOVLY.com paints the cutest little ladies and gents (and the occasional pet), for sale on Etsy, and even does custom work! So if you need a portrait of you and your sweetheart, you and your pet gerbil, or just the darling you, Sabrinas your gal. She's a dream to work with, not only did she do my blog header and pretty business cards, but she also painted her interpretation of my rag curl tutorial, which I just love! Don't you want her to make all those mundane bits of life cuter?
Above are a few of my favorite paintings, she has such a knack for representing a persons interests and passions so well, the results are amazing!

For paper dolls and glamour girls

I'm having a hard time picking a favorite this week, the gold dress is sooooo glamourous, the bow dress looks like something an adorable paper doll would wear, and the 40s is super cute and comfortable!
The sweaters and skirt are from my own wardrobe, neither of the pieces really work on me as wonderful as they are. And yeah, thats the same skirt I wore Sunday it's just not made for a gal with hips ;)

Contact me via email or Etsy if you would like more info or a reserve on any of the items.

This weeks shop highlights

After a two week break I'm back to listing in my shop with some really fun items. I most definitely wanted to keep the fringe dress and 30s gown, but as it stands I have no plans for a dance party or ball. The fringe dress was so much fun to photograph, I spent most of the time twisting and turning, to capture the movement the oversized fringe holds. And the 30s gown just made me feel like Ginger Rogers, Sam and I even danced a bit while I was wearing it, it has a perfect silky flow :)

As always if you have any questions or would like a reserve just let me know via email or Etsy :)

Mad for Plaid.

Some plaid (and one not) listings this week going in my shop. If I looked better in 60s styles, I would probably wear them more, they have such a young, fresh air even if the clothing is 50 years old. But my loss is your gain, with plenty of fun 60s dresses and loungewear going up for sale :)

Please email me at solanahraquel@gmail.com or contact on Etsy with any questions or reserve requests.

New listings!

Here are some stylish things going in my shop this week! A lot to satisfy your inner bombshell, be it slipping a leopard robe over your silk nightgown in the morning, buttoning up a cute little red rose dress and bolero to run errands, and wiggling into a silver cocktail dress in the evening.

As always if you have any questions or would like a reserve, email me :)

Jennifer Lauren Designs

Sometimes all you want in the morning is to slip on a cute little skirt, pair it with a blouse and cardigan, and head out the door. But those basic things can sometimes be too basic, and cross the line into boring. And who wants to look boring?

Jennifer Lauren solves the dilemma by making beautiful vintage inspired skirts, dresses, and blouses from upcycled materials. Her original designs are crisp and fresh, with fabrics you'll love and silhouettes everyone will admire. You can choose from the basics (but never boring) to the pretty patterned frock, and each item is made with quality and skilled sewing techniques. Of course if you want something that's not up for sale right now, Jennifer even takes custom orders! Perfect if you have a hard time finding your size, want a perfect skirt with roomy pockets to carry a little book, or are searching for a certain style.

And if you're interested in knowing more about the woman behind the designs, be sure to visit her delightful blog, Pretty Little Pictures where you can find delightful outfit photos, shop updates, and even giveaways!

Happy Holidays!

I've saved up some really fun things for the holiday season, and this week they finally get listed! I've got an outfit for any occasion this season, from casual to formal, but always very pretty. Here are a few formal dresses you could easily wear to a dinner party, holiday ball, or cocktail party.

Forget going to the mall for that black tie event, these two dresses are definitely statement makers. What statement are you making? "I looks fabulous."

For those casual family get togethers, dinner with close friends, or even shopping for the perfect present, you'll always want to look your best! These dresses will last you this season and many to come, and a good wool coat is a must have!

New on Etsy!

Some fun new things going in my shop today! I found the jacket and 1940s dress yesterday, the jacket is so neat, it has these cool embroidered dragons on the inside of the cuff. If I didn't already have a vintage sailor jacket I'd keep it! I couldn't seem to capture just how pretty this 40s dress is, the color is so rich and autumn like, with colored studs at the pockets (yes! It has pockets!). But it's also a few sizes too big for me, so I think it would look really fantastic on someone it actually fits.
If anyone would like measurements, a reserve, etc, just send me an email!

New this week!

Here are a few items going in my shop this week, all perfect for Autumn for Spring depending on where you live. It really feels like fall right now, with the yellow leaves blowing in the streets, and bits of unpredictable rain. I'm almost finished with my sweater, all I have to knit are the sleeves! So hopefully I'll have it done by the end of the week, or next week.

As always if you have any questions or would like a reserve, just email me!

Enjoy!
