The Montage

Tonight a few Fab Gabs gals went out to dinner at The Montage, a delectable cajun style restaurant under the Morrison bridge. I had been there only once before and tried the alligator linguini, and I can officially say I'm not fond of alligator. But this time I got the Spold Mac, a mix of their classic mac and cheese, and the spicy mac and cheese, which has amazing cajun spices mixed in. It was faaaaaaaantastic! Their mac and cheese is so good, we all ordered a bowl!
Besides their yummy food, The Montage also is known for creating sculptures out of foil surrounding your leftovers. I made sure and leave a little mac and cheese just to see what I would get. I was made a beautiful rose, Julie got a bunny, and Lulu got a pretty kitty. I also saw a guy walk out the door with a full sized battle axe. I was a bit jealous.

I just got this dress from ModCloth today, and had planned on wearing it Sunday to a wedding (and still am), but I really couldn't wait to wear it. It's a new favorite. I don't actually have a basic black day dress, but always seem to need/want one. This is perfect. Though I was so excited to wear it, I didn't iron it very well, oops! Hope mom doesn't see.

She will, I'll hear about it tomorrow....

Random pictures you've never seen from 1979. Apparently.

There's an auto folder in my iphoto labeled "1979". I don't know why it's labeled that way, it just appeared one day. It's full of random photos from random times, so here are some photos from ten years before I was born.

This is from my trip to California in March, at Laguna Beach.

This was a little book I was tempted to buy at The Vintage Collective

One of the many amazing houses in La Jolla. Oh, and the beach was 20 feet away. Yeah, one of my many dream houses.

A sailor outfit I don't think was ever posted. The pants are modern, one of the last items I still have from my trip to Rome. Yes, I've been to Rome, that is a post for another day, for I can go on and on about it.

The chandelier at Gustaves, we met up with friends for happy hour the other day there. Of course I wore my dirndl.

I see this guy every once in a while downtown Portland, either with this beautiful leopard like cat on his shoulder, or walking it on a leash. I call them shoulder cat and shoulder cat man.

This was I think the most fun photoshoot I've done with Fab Gabs (well, I've only done three, but this one was the tops). The set Julie put together was amazing, and she even picked up some props like flowers, Mr. Panda, and a box of chocolates, which between the three of us, didn't last very long. Oh and "The Peddler" book, which as you can see in the first photo, it too inappropriate for Mr. Panda.
I got to model some of the prettiest bias cut nightgowns, petticoats, slips, and even a leopard jumpsuit WITH A HOOD! You can see all of Fab Gabs sneak peeks here. Enjoy!

Last night, after a really fun shoot with Fab Gabs, the gal behind all the magic, Julie, took me out to The Alibi Tiki Lounge. It had an amazing interior, and Julie and I dressed up just for the occasion (I got to raid the Fab Gabs multiple rooms of merchandise, and picked out a wonderful 40s frock). She treated me to Mai ties, and fried mac and cheese. It's just about the best thing you can do with mac and cheese, and even better than it sounds.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

My summer closet

I hate closet doors. I really, really do. For one thing, I can never shut them. But mainly I love my closet to be open. After all, I have some totally awesome clothes (not going to be modest here), so why would I want to shut them all away?
I rotate me wardrobe eight times a year. That might seem like a lot, but you have no idea how much clothing I actually have. It's packed tight under the bed, in a full sized chest in the living room, in suitcases stacked behind our pink chair, in storage at my mothers, and in my grandmas extra closets. So to make sure everyone gets their turn, I switch it up for spring summer, summer, summer fall, fall, fall winter, etc.
In my current closet I had to narrow down the dresses to 35. Yes, I can go over a month without wearing the same thing twice. The rest wouldn't fit! Speaking of wouldn't fit, once I hung up all my dresses there was no room for my poor little skirt rack (with some swimsuits and rompers). So I had to bring it out into the room, which honestly I love, it feels like shopping every morning when I get dressed ;)
So there you go, my summer closet, now I will just sit and wait for the sun to come out....

Beginning of summer?

This might be the beginning of summer. We'll see though, I'm still going to rotate my closet for summer, even if it's not warm. I'll pretend it is.

Yesterday Sam and I went to a local Mexican restaurant, Woodys Tacos. It's yummy and cheap! I always take a mexican wedding cake home when we go there, but they never make it home. Actually they never make it to the car.

We Love Colors!

A few weeks ago the people at We Love Colors sent me a package full of candy colored legwear. They let me pick whatever I wanted, and thanks to the latest issue of Lula I went right for the striped tights. The hardest part was picking a color because there are over 50! I settled on Orchid Pink, because it reminds me of cotton candy :)

Now, I was really excited to find beige thigh highs in an opaque nylon, since they are something I need in the winter, warmer than regular vintage stockings, but still a vintage look. And they stay up really well without garters.

Socks are something I wear constantly in the summer, since I don't wear stockings much, so I got red, gold, and orchid pink again, this color is really pretty. I love the look of colored socks and heels, and these are thin enough to wear with them. And did I mention how affordable they are? $3.50 a pair! Next time I'm stocking up on some softer pastel colors, they have a nice version of lilac.

Along with the items I photographed, they also have mens legwear, childrens, plus sized, gloves, and dancewear, in many colors, so you can now end that search for the neon green leotard you've been looking for!

So go visit We Love Colors! Tell them I sent you ;)
