I just know this cute little jacket had a matching skirt or dress once. It always makes me sad to know when pieces have been separated, and mad when I see a set being sold separately at a vintage shop. I don't understand how a true vintage lover can do that to a perfectly good outfit. I'm all about matching things, be it suits, hats and purses, shoes and belts, if it's vintage and it matches, chances are I'll love it. Maybe one day I'll find the matching skirt, you never know!

Here is a fantastic skirt I borrowed from Sadie Deluxe Vintage, with horses, giraffes, even buffalo all over! It's a great circle skirt, perfect for cooler weather. You can purchase the skirt here.

Swing Time Speakeasy

Tonight I went dancing at The Bossanova Ballroom, for their weekly Swing Time Speakeasy event. It was all kinds of fun, prior to dancing I participated in charleston lessons, something I've been wanting to learn for a long time. Hopefully next week I'll improve!

The guest entertainer was Bronkar Leetap, a dancer/beat boxer/juggler. Yeah. He was pretty amazing, I can't even juggle, let alone juggle and beat box.

Anyone in the Portland area should come next Wednesday at 8:00, especially if you want to learn how to swing dance! And it's only a $5 cover, thats pretty darn good.

I know I said I was going to be a spiderweb for Halloween this year, but the other day I found this beautiful vintage costume which is so Elizabeth Bennet, and required much less work ;)
Everything but the skirt seams are hand stitched, with some smocking here and there, I just love that there's that detail on a costume, we don't even have that on modern everyday clothes!

Pride and Prejudice has been my favorite book since I first read it at 14, and I just can't help but buy more and more copies of the novel. This one is my favorite, it's a beautiful hardback I got at an antique show, but I still have that very worn copy I carried around in high school.

I hope everyone will have a nice Halloween weekend, I'm off to a party at Twila Jean's house, but Halloween night will be spent watching another episode of Sherlock Holmes with kitty and a cup of tea :)

Fedora for fall

Here is a hat I borrowed from Rakshniya Vintage, a great hat to have for fall weather. You can purchase it here, it's a great size too, not too small! I got compliments on it all day, a really nice hat.

I love knit dresses. I could live in them, they're figure hugging, warm, comfortable, and easy to dress up or down.

This particular shade of green looks fantastic with leopard, more unexpected that the standard red and animal print.
