Day 1 and 2: On the road

Photobucket
Ok, so early Monday morning I set out with my aunt, Uncle, and four cousins on a roadtrip across the midwest United States. We stopped in Pendleton Oregon for a picnic lunch the first day....

...Twin Falls Idaho...

...and stayed overnight in Ogden Utah.
Photobucket
The next day we drove through Wyoming and went to "Little America"...
Photobucket
...where there was a giant stuffed penguin...
Photobucket
...and the old part of the building had the coolest mid century bathroom. Yes boys, we get awesome lounges in our bathrooms...

Later in the day we stopped for lunch at The Wyoming Frontier Prison, which had a pretty cool museum.

And some Pronghorn sightings...

And saw some cool old buildings and signs. Most abandoned.

Before a summer downpour (complete with crazy thunder and lightning!), we stopped in Cheyenne Wyoming...

And tomorrow we'll be on our way again!

Awesome travel toiletries. Yes, toiletries.

Photobucket

Last year I fond this fantastic little "Celebrity" travel toiletry kit at a yard sale for, oh, ten cents.

It's ok, you can be jealous.

I'm excited to get to use it on a two week roadtrip with my aunt, uncle, and four girl cousins.

It came with three bottles, two jars, one soap case, brush/comb, and pair of matching slippers.

Slippers!!!!

Makeup and toothbrush in the back pouch, shampoo, body wash, cleanser, deodorant, tinted moisturizer, and concealer in the containers.

Headscarf, brush, and pouch of bobby pins in the other pouch.

Am I the only one amazed with this comb brush? Or...crush.

Photobucket
Unfortunately I think I'll have to leave the slippers behind, as there's no room, and the soapdish spot has been replaced by deodorant.

And there is proof that the past had cooler everyday things than now. At least what you can get for ten cents...

Stop Staring!

Photobucket

Stop Staring has been a favorite vintage reproduction line for quite a while. I think because they carry a lot of "pin up" styles, something that is particularly difficult to find with vintage clothing. So when they contacted me and asked if I wanted to try out on of their dresses, I jumped at the chance!

They sent me my favorite, the Billion Dollar dress in red, and as soon as I put it on I could see why it was named that! It really is the most perfect red dress, and has all the elements I love in a dress.

How could you not feel like a billion dollars in this?

The Ace Hotel

Photobucket

This week Sam and I stayed at The Ace Hotel for a couple of nights, for our second wedding anniversary. It's actually not until next week, but seeing as I'll be gone on a roadtrip with Coedith and her family at that time, we celebrated early :)

The hotel itself is fantastic, if I remember correctly it used to be a really run down apartment building. Within the past few years it was bought and updated into a trendy, Portlandy hotel. They kept the structure pretty much as it was, the old wooden stairs, the rickety elevator. But the modern updates have a vintage edge.

Our room had a clawfoot tub, wine cooler, record player, and great view. I kept saying how much kitty would love it there, with all the people watching :)

They serve a nice breakfast in the morning, with fruits, cheeses, cold meats, and jams. Wish I ate breakfast like that everyday! And the lobby has a nice lounge area, photobooth, and loft area with a computer, books, and comfy chairs.

So basically, we had a great time :)
