Kitty purse and boots! (haha, get it?)

Ok, first, kitty purse.

I've been searching all over for a decent cat purse, especially after Nicole posted about her amazing crocheted poodle purse. I thought "hey, I can just crochet my own cat purse. Oh wait. I can't crochet."

So that was the end of that.

Until I remembered Julie had given me a couple of darling vintage kitty pillow cases, yet to be made into pillows. Some pillow fluff, a lining, and a zipper later, kitty purse!

I love that he kind of looks like a stuffed animal. Very cuddly.

The boots are something I've been very excited about getting for weeks. I've worn them before, but the soles were really thick and kept falling off, and just a little too 70s for my wardrobe. So I took them to JDs Shoe Repair and they made them perfect! I got them from the cobblers and put them right on :)

The rest of the day was awesome, I went to lunch and shopping with grandma, lunch #2 and Anthropologie with Sam, and now relaxing at home :)

Food and photobooths.

I got my new shoes! Cici actually found them for me after I mentioned I have been looking for perfect red shoes for ages. Somehow she just found them in an instant :) They are from Retro Renegade Vintage, one of my favorite vintage shops on Etsy, and they are sooooooo pretty! Even better in person, I cannot believe the condition they are in, not a single scratch or smudge despite being patent leather. I walked with cation all day.

One of the main reasons I don't have tons of photobooth pictures is because I hardly carry cash around. Today though at The Ace Hotel they changed "cash only" into "cards only". I could be there for a long time...
They did however raise the price from $3.00 to $4.00 which was a little disappointing, but ah well. It's fun. Which is why when Sam and I went to Portland today we took a couple of sets. Ok, we took one together, then I took one by myself for the blog banner. What do you think?
After walking around we went to Kenny and Zukes, the place is always packed but we've never gone. It was really good, I just wish they had a vegetarian sandwich option, but the mac and cheese I had was super. Sam was of course, a silly goose.

Spring topper

Here's a little portrait before I head off to work for the day at the vintage shop. It's beautiful sunny weather so I get to wear a topper with fuzzy flowers popping up. I have all my hair piled on top of my head which is quite heavy! I haven't had hair this long in years and forgotten how heavy is.
I found these navy shoes while thrifting, they're Faragamo's which I find are pretty easy to get from thrift stores, not sure why. Maybe little old ladies throw them out as soon as they get a bit scuffed up because these are in pretty good condition, and actually fit me, not too narrow. And as I finish typing the sun has been replaced by gray clouds, I swear we have the oddest weather here. I guess I'll bring a jacket.

Shoes of green

Today my mother and I had a hair appointment in Portland, much needed for me, although I just got a trim. Going to the Salon is my time to indulge in gossip magazines and Vogues. The latest Vogue has Michelle Obama on the cover and is filled with pretty things only 0.01% of the population can afford. I saw lots of colorful wingtip shoes for women, something I love, I have a smashing pair in red. Also lots of retro looks, including these from Marc Jacobs and Missoni. The magazine was filled with so many pretty shoes afterward I suggested we go to Nordstoms Rack and see if there were any fabulous spring footwear. I tried on about a dozen pairs and squeeled when I slipped on these super fabulous super comfortable pair. Green as a a sour apple and with sweet little cutouts, they are so adorable! Not to mention the bow. Love the bow. I picture them with a pink dress with my pink petticoat underneath, and a matching green bow in my hair. Now I just have to find the dress and make the bow. Or maybe I could make the dress too! I was so surprised at the price of them, they were on sale for $31! I want to sit in an old chair in my pink petticoat and green shoes and have a tea party. With bugs. A bug teaparty, and all the bugs will wear hats and bowties. Doesn't that sound divine?

Oh, and the chair standing picture reminds me of one from Rebel Angel.

Blue shoes and straw hats.

Flipping through the February issue of Vogue, I've noticed two trends that seem to grace everything from the magazines photo spreads, to the ads in between.

Blue shoes, and boater hats.

I've never actually been one to wear a boater, for summer I prefer the really wide brim hats, or fun florals. However these hats have appeared on so many runways for the spring season they are hard to ignore. I think the attraction is not only the hat itself, but how it is worn: tilted and forward. Much different from the traditional way of wearing it on top of the head, and ever so eye catching.

The other stand out accessory are deep sky blue shoes. Worn with all kinds of outfits and colors, they really have a fresh impact on footwear, more daring than navy. Colorful shoes in general are always so much more exciting than black, and I will always remember a scene in the film 'Chocolat" when Viannes daughter is angry at her mother because the children at school tease her for being different. She exclaims "Why cant you wear black shoes like all the other mothers!"

I think everyone needs more color in their shoe wardrobe. Yes black goes with pretty much everything, and there are some really exciting styles out there, but that is precisely why daring colored shoes are less seen, and more appreciated.
